Charlotte Sands unveils new single "Alright"

charlotte sands alright

You’ve collaborated with artists such as Sleeping with Sirens, Underoath, and Mokita, how do you choose who to collaborate with and what do you look for in a collaboration? I’ve been really fortunate to collaborate with so many incredible artists and bands that I look up to and am really thankful that they’ve included me in so many of their projects. All that matters to me when collaborating with someone is that we have a mutual respect for what the other is doing and are genuinely both excited about the music we’re making. There is nothing more special than creating art you love with people that you love and look up to. Growing up can be tough, especially when you feel like you don’t belong. But for Charlotte Sands, the experience has led her to create a community of her own.

Alright (Live From The Hammersmith Apollo in London) Lyrics

As the song progresses, it evolves from a reflection on personal struggles to a universal anthem, reassuring listeners that even though they may never be completely alright, it’s going to be alright. Charlotte Sands’ emotive vocals and heartfelt delivery breathe life into the lyrics, making it a powerful and relatable track. The lyrics capture the inner turmoil and constant self-doubt that many of us experience.

So she found a roommate in Nashville via Craigslist, stole her mum’s car, and set off on a two-day drive to Music City. Instantly recognisable by her electric blue hair, Charlotte’s current tour dates with PVRIS are listed below. She will return to the UK in May to play both legs of the Slam Dunk Festival and is also confirmed for Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany. More big plans for 2023 are also in the works - expect more news to be unveiled soon. The bridge takes a more reflective tone, as the narrator sings, “And every time I go back to Boston, it just feels like running away. And I sink right back to the bottom, hoping one day something will change.

Mixing the melodic rush, fiery attitude and relentless energy of pop-punk with the kind of voice and instantly irresistible hooks that powers chart-bound pop stars, Charlotte Sands bridges the space between those two worlds. The chorus delivers the powerful message that the narrator may never be completely alright, but there is hope for improvement. They acknowledge that they are drinking with their ghosts tonight, metaphorically referencing past experiences that continue to haunt them. Despite this, they still believe that things can get better in time. “Alright” is a song that speaks to the struggles of self-doubt and the search for inner peace.

Instead she focused entirely on her songwriting, ramping up drastically during lockdown when she released seven singles in 2020 that were recorded in her bedroom studio. Charlotte Sands grew up inspired by both fiery rock bands such as Taking Back Sunday and All Time Low, but also classic singer-songwriters such as Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt. By the time she was 18, she was eager to move from small town Massachusetts to a place that would help her to develop her own talents as a writer.

You can search high and low in this universe, and one day, no matter how long it takes, you will find the thing you’ve been searching for has been inside you all along. Your new single “Alright” represents a subtle evolution in your style, can you tell us more about that and what inspired the song? I wrote the song almost 3 years ago at a really low point in my life when I felt hopeless and unable to be optimistic about the future. It was so isolating in itself and then adding onto that was the pandemic and being forced to be alone more than I ever have.

She'll play London's Eventim Apollo with PVRIS tomorrow (26 January). What can fans expect from you in the future and what are you most excited about in 2023? They can absolutely expect more music and more shows because that is all I plan to do in 2023 and the rest of my life. I cannot wait to share all the exciting things we have planned, I couldn’t be more grateful and excited.

The ethereal track follows a profound turning point in her story, as she channels her experiences as an outsider into empowering art. In addition to this release, Charlotte announced her new partnership with the JED Foundation, an emotional health and suicide prevention for teens and adults to bring awareness to these issues. The partnership will include limited-edition Charlotte Sands x JED Foundation merchandise, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the nonprofit. Her initial plan was to spend a year in Nashville before attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music. But she fell so hard into the creativity that the community provides that she didn’t want to leave.

I love festivals because I feel like there are so many people that don’t know me and that feels like a challenge but I love the headlining shows because it feels like a reunion with all of your friends. You’ve exceeded 135 million streams, what has been your proudest moment in your career so far? I’ve had so many moments that I look back on its impossible to choose one. There are so many moments that I am proud of and I am so lucky to be able to say that.

Sometimes that means wearing pyjamas out and sometimes it means wearing a skirt and leather boots but I try to allow myself to exist in whatever form I feel is fitting at that time. She wrote the song with its producer, fellow Nashville resident Danen Reed Rector. With any song by Charlotte Sands, it’s easy to tell that her creativity comes straight from her heart and personal experiences. We adored this song when we first heard it, and this version is no different. It’s an awe-inspiring performance, and we’re so grateful that Charlotte Sands created this incredible song.
